Day 1

The Inaugural ceremony of All Kerala Industry Applications Society Student Conclave 2019 (AKIASSC’19) commenced with seeking blessing from almighty. Dr. Leesha Paul (Student branch counsellor, IEEE SB, NSSCE) delivered the IEEE Code of Ethics. Prof. Muhammed Kasim S (Chair, IA/IE/PELS Jt. Chapter Kerala) welcomed the chief guest , other dignitaries and audience. The presidential address was delivered by Dr Sudha T (Principal, NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad). Chief Guest Dr. Sivaji Chakravorthi, (Director, NIT Calicut) and other dignitaries inaugurated the conclave by lighting the lamp. Dr. Sivaji Chakravorti delivered the inaugural address and he wished all the success to the conclave. Ms. Athira M (Chair, IAS SBC NSSCE) briefed about the activities done last year. Prof. Biju K (Secretary, IA/IE/PELS Jt. Chapter Kerala) mentioned about the role and significance of IA/IE/PELS Jt. Chapter Kerala.

A Techincal talk was taken by Er. Dharesam Unnithan K M (Director, Energy Management Centre Kerala) regarding Energy Efficiency for imrproving profitability followed by a Non Technical Talk by Dr. Sivaji Chakravorti (Director, NIT Calicut) Studying engineering- Do we need to do it differently.

As a part of All Kerala Industry Applications Society Student Conclave an Industrial Visit was conducted at 10 am on 8th Feb 2019. The whole participants divided into two groups. One batch went to Patspin India Ltd. Palakkad. 45 Delegates accompanied by five volunteers visited Fluid control Research Institute and other batch to Patspin India Ltd.

On the first day of AKIASSC’19 8th Feb 2019, 134 delegates along with 20 volunteers visited Malampuzha garden. Prof. Muhammed Kasim S, Dr.Leesha Paul , Dr.Vasanthi and Dr.Madhu Mangal accompanied them. In Malampuzha garden, an icebreaking session was conducted by the crew led by Annmarry and Vaisakh. Delegates participated actively in the session, which included fun games and cultural segments followed by group photo session. Delegates really enjoyed those moments. The lightings in the evening were beautiful.

Day 2

Second day was started by Three parallel workshops - Industrial automation with PLC and SCADA by Er.Joseph Rojer (R&D manager, Walco solutions, Kochi), Lighting Design and New Trends in Lighting by Er. Toms Maly (Asst. Manager Wipro lightings), Project Management Principles and Practices by Er. Muraleedharan Manningal (Head State e-Gov Mission Team & Chair-IEEE Kerala Section, Govt Relations). The session was interactive with various individual and group activities.

Techincal talks was taken by Dr. K R Suresh Nair (CTO, SFO Technologies Kochi) regarding Demystifying Hardware Product Development. Another Talk was taken by Er. C M Varughese (MD, IGA TECH Industrial Electronics Pvt Ltd, Kochi) about Energy Storage for renewable energy system. Technical Talk was followed by a Non Technical Talk by Dr. Jacob Chandapillai (Director, Fluid Control Research Institute, Palakkad) regarding Innovative solutions: key to success.

As a part of All Kerala Industry Applications Society Student Conclave 2019, Advisor’s Meet was conducted on 9th Feb 2019 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Meet was held with the initiative of the Advisors’ of IEEE Kerala Section to discuss the reforms that need to be introduced in the IEEE Kerala section and about its’ functioning till date.

We arranged a cultural night dedicated to the delegates at the open stage of NSS College of Engineering. The program was started at 7.00 pm with the interactive session arranged by Binsin. He added fun games that engaged the delegates. This was followed by vibrant musical performance organized by the college band 'Rudra'. The lead singer was Rakhi R (Chair PELS SBC NSSCE). The cultural night was fulfilled with a fabulous gale dinner. The program came to an end at 9.30 pm, which gave wonderful memories and unforgettable moments to each and everyone who were a part of it.

Day 3

Third day was filled with enthusiasm. The day was filled with technical talks and non technical talks also different Meets.

Techincal talks was taken by Ms. Revathi T S (Senior Engineer, Tata Elxsi) regarding Demystifying Hardware Product Development. Another Talk was taken by Er. Shahim Baker (CEO, Baker Associate Group) about Building Management Systems. Technical Talk was followed by a Non Technical Talk by Dr. Madhu Mangal (Vice Chair, Life Member Affinity Group Kerala Section) and the topic was "My Journey".

As part of AKIASSC’19 (All Kerala Industry Applications Society Student Conclave) organised by IA/IE/PELS Jt. Chapter Kerala in association with IEEE IAS SBC NSSCE, WiE Empowerment Summit (WES) was conducted on 10th Feb 2019. It was an interactive session by women entrepreneurs lead by, Dr. K Bijuna (Vice Chair IA/IE/PELS Jt. Chapter Kerala), Mrs Jyothi Ramaswami (Vice Chair of WiE AG Kerala) and Megha Ben (Regional-10 Student Ambassador of IEEE CS). IEEE IAS SBC Student Chairs gathered on February 10th, offering a chain to get in touch with, to present an annual report of 2018 and to discuss the plans for 2019. YP Meet (Young Professional Meet) was held on 10th February 2019 at NSS College of Engineering as part of AKIASSC'19. A team of 7 members from YP joined for the meeting. The team was headed by Er. Shahim Baker (Secretary IEEE Kerala Section) and Er. Thomas Sabu, (Secretary Kerala YP). The team also included Er. Sudev and Er. Jishnu who are also active members of Kerala YP.

The valedictory function started at 3:00 pm at the college auditorium. Prof. K Biju delivered the welcome speech. He welcomed Prof. Muhammad Kasim S (Chair, IA/ IE/ PELS Jt. Chapter Kerala), Dr. Leesha Paul (Counselor, IEEE SB NSSCE) and Er. Shahim Baker (CEO, Baker Associates Group). Abhinav R (Secretary, IEEE IAS SBC NSSCE) delivered the vote of thanks. Feedback session from the delegates got very good comments as expected. The memorable event AKIASSC’19 ended with the valedictory function.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The meeting was held on 20th February 2019 that witnessed the announcement of the new Execom members for the year 2019-20. The ceremony started with the welcome address by former branch counsellor Dr Leesha Paul. Later on, Prof. Vijitha, the new branch counsellor of the SB, addressed the students with a mind-blowing motivational speech. The forthcoming programs of IEEE for this year were also discussed. Ms Maria, the former Secretary of the SB submitted the annual report, which was followed by the momento delivery to former branch counsellor Dr Leesha Paul by Prof. Vijitha. The newly selected Execom members were called to the stage by Arun, the Ex-chairman of IEEE SB for entrusting their positions. The meeting was winded up by a cake cutting ceremony and photograph session of the new Execom.

FUTURE PROMISING NOISE CANCELLING TECHNOLOGY

IEEE Student Branch of NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad has conducted the Spectrum Talk on the topic FUTURE PROMISING NOISE CANCELLING TECHNOLOGY. It was the talk based on the topic which was selected from the Spectrum, IEEE monthly magazine. It was conducted as a part to provide the IEEE members to get update with the new technologies and also provide an open space to discuss with the upcoming technologies with its pros and cons. It gives good platform for developing the soft skills of the members.

The session was taken by Nayana C T. She discussed about the importance of noice cancellation and working of MUTE technology. She mentioned about the changes that will happen in the world of technology by the introduction of such a product to the market and showed some videos on this experiment. It was conducted at eOne Hall, 4pm on 21st February 2019. About 30 students were included in this session. It was very useful session for the participants and they were enthusiastic by being part of the spectrum talk. And it was a nice interactive session taken by the key speaker, Nayana C T

QUANTUM COMPUTING

IEEE Student Branch of NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad has conducted the Spectrum Talk on the topic QUANTUM COMPUTING. It was the talk based on the topic which was selected from the Spectrum, IEEE monthly magazine. It was conducted as a part to provide the IEEE members to get update with the new technologies and also provide an open space to discuss with the upcoming technologies with its pros and cons. It gives good platform for developing the soft skills of the members.

The session was taken by Solomon Stuby. He presented two relevant problems that cannot be solved by a normal computer. This is where a Quantum computer can play its role. The main advantage of this technology is speed. Quantum computer can solve problems which a normal computer cannot even think about. He explained what a ‘Qbit’ is and how it works with plenty of examples. There are still a lot of limitations for this technology to come into existence as its size is very large and it must be kept under a temperature of 15 millikelvins. The future scope of this technology was also discussed. It was very useful session for the participants and they were enthusiastic by being part of the spectrum talk. And it was a nice interactive session taken by the key speaker, Solomon Stuby

WiE Week Celebration

As part of International Women’s Day celebrations in accordance with the WIE week from march 5th to 15th the IEEE WIE AG of NSSCE has planned various activities on the theme – Balance For The Better Technology For Future . Our WIE wing is promoted by an active members and supportive faculties. An inaugural ceremony was conducted with a session by two eminent women sharing their life journey. On 8th March International Women’s Day the woman staffs are recognised with greeting cards and celebrated along with unsung heroines and tribal students.

Create-It Workshop on Photoshop

IEEE Student Branch of NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad has conducted the Workshop Create-It Workshop on Photoshop

The session was taken by Swathi Sree. The Workshop was scheduled for a couple of hours after 4 pm. All the students were informed about the event beforehand. The session was conducted by Swathi Chandra R , IEEE SB NSSCE member. In the current scenario , Digital promotions plays a pivotal role in marketing, amongst the most creative and efficient are being raised by Cooperatives. Photoshop serves as a language in communicating a detailed description of the product/event in a pixelated sheet. The session spoke about creating a digital poster from a blank page using the basic tools and layer masks. The workshop was concluded by an interactive session followed by a competition in designing an ID Card.

5G

It was the talk based on the topic which was selected from the Spectrum, IEEE monthly magazine. It was conducted as a part to provide the IEEE members to get update with the new technologies and also provide an open space to discuss with the upcoming technologies with its pros and cons. It gives good platform for developing the soft skills of the members.

The session was taken by Ajith M,(Chairman IAS). 5G will revolutionize the mode of wireless data transfer. The talk was started by explaining the about 1G, 2G, 3G and 4G. Millimetre waves, Small Cells, Massive MIMO, Beamforming and Full duplex are five technological advancement in the field of 5G. More people and devices are consuming more data than ever before, but it remains crammed on the same bands of the radio-frequency spectrum that mobile providers have always used. Even if it is great development in the field of communication, 5G has its own drawbacks. The talk was concluded by an interactive session followed by the feedbacks from the listeners.

IEEE Student Branch of NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad has conducted a Seminar Presentation on the topic ENERGY AUDITING AND SUSTAINABLE ENERGY. It gives good platform for developing the soft skills of the members.

The session was taken by Prof. Sheela S. Energy conservation is growing to be a relevant topic because of the limited availability of non-renewable energy resources on earth. There are certain initiatives that has to be taken to access the needs and stabilize the energy spending day-by-day and there comes the relevance of Energy Audit. It reveals the usage patterns, identifies waste, over expenditure and generally make us fully cognizant of how the energy has to be utilized.

Science and Technology Quiz

IEEE PES SBC NSSCE conducted an Quiz on the topic Science and Technology in association with PES Day Celebration. The time duration was fixed to 1-hour where 15 team with 2 members each participated in the quiz. The IEEE PES Quiz Competition was a grand success and witnessed a huge participation from Students.

IEEE PES SBC NSSCE conducted an online Sentence Writing Competition on the word vicarious in association with PES Day Celebration. The competition was open to all in Kerala, irrespective fo their qaulifications. The best 3 sentence made with the word vicarious were selected and awarded as winners.

As a part of PELS Day on 20th June, IEEE PELS SBC NSSCE organized an event to celebrate PELS Day on 21st June. The event inaugurated by Er. Jayakrishnan followed by a session by DSC Lead Akarsh Ashok on Google Actions. The swags sent by IEEE were ditributed to students accordingly and After a Cake cutting Session, we concluded with a Group Photo.

Encrypta <2.0>

The flagship coding event of IEEE SB NSSCE, Encrypta<2.0>,national level coding contest was conducted in the year 2019 with greater support from students of all wakes of life. The event was anchored under the aegis of CS SBC NSSCE.
The coding competition comprised of three phases as follows :
Ekachakra: The Phase I of Encrypta<2.0> in which more than 170 participants across the country tested their coding skills. The event was held on 14 th of September as an Online coding contest.
Panchachakra: Panchachakra, the second phase was exclusively for the top thirty teams who cleared the first round 'Ekachakra'. Phase II was hosted in NSS College of Engineering Palakkad on 28 th Sept 2019. The winners tested their final skills in the Phase III round,
Chakravyuha: The third and final phase of the coding contest witness intense battle between the contestants which opened a totally new horizon to the participants.
The Phase II and Phase III of the Encrypta<2.0> was held at NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad on 28 Sept 2019. The duration of competition in Phase II was three hours. The top five winners of this stage moved to the last and final Phase III. The competitors faced strenevous coding exercises and this was really and eye opener and experience for the competitors.
The top three winners are:

2) Adharsh M
3) Ajai Nair
The first prize was Rs.10000,second was Rs.5000 and third prize was Rs.2000.
The valedictory function was decorated by two guests from industry. Dr. Sreekanth Madhavan, CEO Kabani Tech and Ms.Anju EPS, Wipro addressed the gathering and distributed the prizes. Prof Vijitha S and Asst Prof. Nimitha Muraleedharan felicitate on the occasion.

Section Distinguished Lecture Program

The Section Distinguished Lecture Program was conducted by IEEE IAS Student Branch Chapter NSS College of Engineering, Palakkad in collaboration with IEEE Kerala Section on 31st October 2019. The half-day session was handled by renowned speaker Dr. Deepak Mishra, Department of Avionics, IIST Thiruvananthapuram. The Inaugural function started with a prayer. IEEE Code of Ethics is conveyed by Abhinav Rajeev, Chairman, IEEE SB NSSCE. Welcome address Associate Professor Dr. Vasanthi V Advisor, IAS SBC NSSCE. Presidential address by Principal, NSS College Of Engineering Palakkad. Program officiall inaugurated by Dr. Deepak Mishra. Felicitation by Assistant Professor Vijitha S Branch Councellor, IEEE SB NSSC. Finally, inaugural function ended with Vote of Thanks Ajith M, Chairman, IAS SBC NSSCE. The distinguished lecture program was on Machine Learning, which is very prominent as far as technical education is concerned. About 65 students attended the session. Among them, there were IEEE IAS student members of NSS Collge of Enginnering and Ammini College of Engineering. The lecture was worth attending in which topics like Neural Networks and Deep Learning were covered.

Snapshot- Photography Contest

The IEEE IAS Student Branch Chapter of NSSCE in collaboration with Friday photo club conducted a photography competition named Snapshot as a pre-event of XPERION 2020. The theme was unseen frames of NSSCE. The competition started on 11th November 2019 and ends on 20th November 2019.The entries was screened and uploaded in Instagram page of Friday Photo Club. The evaluation was done based on the likes got on Instagram page and FPC Coordinators. The event was grant success and received huge number of entries. Bhaskar S of S7 EEE from NSSCE won the competition.

Technical Interactive session with Alumni

An interactive session was conducted by Alumni Association NSSCE with IEEE IAS SBC NSSCE, Palakkad for the students. The session was on 16/01/2020 at 1:00 pm in DLH hall. The session was conducted by two alumnis Mr. Prakash Bare, cofounder GDA Technologies INC, USAnd Smt. Lekha Balachandran, Managing partner, Resitech Electricals. 72 students from various branches actively participated in the interactive session.
